This Week's Sermon/Outline

Bible Verses Everyone Needs to Know

Matthew 26:26-28: The Lord's Supper gives us Confidence to...

Pastor John Mulligan

"And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, 'Take, eat; this is My body.' Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, 'Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.'" (Matthew 26:26-28, NKJV)

The new Covenant is explained most fully in Hebrews 7-10

10:16"This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds." 17Then he adds: "Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more." 18And where these have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin.

19Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. 25Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:16-25, NIV)

3. Let us consider how to inspire others.

4. Let us not give up meeting with each other.

"25aLet us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing..."

5. Let us encourage one another.

"25bLet us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."

Steps to Peace with God

1. God's Purpose: Peach & Life

God loves you and wants you to

experience peace and life.

"We have peace with God through

our Lord Jesus Christ."  Romans 5:1

————————————

"For God so loved the world

that He gave His one and only Son,

that whoever believes in Him

shall not perish but have eternal life."

John 3:16

2. The Problem: Our Separation

We chose to disobey God and go our own way. This results in separation from God.

"For the wages of sin is death,

but the gift of God is eternal life

in Christ Jesus our Lord."  Romans 6:23

————————————

"But your iniquities have

separated you from God;

your sins have hidden His face from you,

so that He will not hear."  Isaiah 59:2

3. God's Solution: The Cross

Jesus died for sin and rose from the grave, bridging the gap between God & man.

"For there is one God and one mediator

between God and men, the man Christ

Jesus."  1 Timothy 2:5

————————————

"For Christ died for sins once for all,

the righteous for the unrighteous

to bring you to God."  1 Peter 3:18

4. Our Response: Receive Christ

We must trust Jesus as Lord and Savior and receive Him by personal invitation.

"Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God."  John 1:12
